TPE Shore 50A (standard)

Kraiburg · Thermolast K TP5 VCZ_B100

The standard grade of our two Shore 50 A elastomers: the same hardness as the flame-retardant TC5FTZ, but without the flame-retardant package and therefore without a UL 94 V-0 rating. In return, TP5 VCZ can be insert-moulded and bonds to a wider range of rigid components.

These values are taken from the manufacturer datasheet and apply to the material, not to the printed part. In 3D printing the achievable properties depend on part orientation, layer height and process parameters – in the Z direction in particular they are lower. Please talk to us before relying on them for design.

“Qualified for functional parts” is a general classification. A functional part can be a simple clip or a main load-bearing member – the forces and load cases differ fundamentally. We therefore always assess in each individual case whether a material is suitable for your part.

Strengths

  • Bonds to a wide range of rigid components – not only polypropylene
  • Insert moulding possible, suitable for hard/soft assemblies
  • Lastingly elastic and resilient at 500 % elongation at break
  • Good sealing and damping performance

Limitations

  • No flame retardancy – only UL 94 HB; where V-0 is required we use the TC5FTZ
  • Not suitable for load-bearing or dimensionally critical parts
  • Markedly slower printing than with rigid materials
  • Limited temperature resistance
