PP-H (SIMONA)

SIMONA · PP-H natur

Polypropylene homopolymer. Compared with copolymer grades, PP-H is stiffer and more temperature resistant but more impact sensitive in the cold. It is one of the most widely used chemical-plant materials.

This material is still under evaluation at our site

We have it in house and are working towards process release, but it is not yet qualified. We therefore cannot commit to it for series parts. If it suits your application, talk to us – we will tell you openly where we stand, and we can use it as part of a trial.

These values are taken from the manufacturer datasheet and apply to the material, not to the printed part. In 3D printing the achievable properties depend on part orientation, layer height and process parameters – in the Z direction in particular they are lower. Please talk to us before relying on them for design.

Strengths

  • Very good resistance to acids and alkalis
  • Stiffer and more temperature resistant than PP copolymer
  • Very low water absorption
  • Readily weldable – parts integrate into existing plant

Limitations

  • Pronounced shrinkage and warping tendency
  • Impact sensitive in the cold
  • Barely bondable or paintable without pre-treatment
  • Not UV resistant without stabilisation
