PC-CF20 (Dahltram C-250CF)

Airtech · Dahltram C-250CF

Dahltram C-250CF is a carbon-fibre reinforced polycarbonate compound that Airtech developed expressly for additive manufacturing – not for injection moulding. Its typical use is printed moulds and fixtures for cure cycles up to around 121 °C. We are currently evaluating the material on our machine.

This material is still under evaluation at our site

We have it in house and are working towards process release, but it is not yet qualified. We therefore cannot commit to it for series parts. If it suits your application, talk to us – we will tell you openly where we stand, and we can use it as part of a trial.

The manufacturer determined these values on printed specimens rather than injection-moulded ones, which makes them considerably more meaningful than typical datasheet figures. Note the orientations given: values in the layer plane (X, or XY and XZ) are considerably higher than those across the layers (Z, or ZX). Part orientation has to match the load direction – we are happy to advise.

Strengths

  • Values measured on the printed part, not on injection-moulded specimens
  • Developed expressly for additive manufacturing – not a repurposed injection-moulding grade
  • Carbon rather than glass fibre: higher stiffness with less warpage
  • Dimensionally stable to 144 °C (HDT) – suitable for cure cycles up to 121 °C
  • Unlimited shelf life in the original packaging at 22 °C

Limitations

  • Not yet qualified on our machine – please treat as a request for quotation
  • The datasheet values come from a large-format process with a 12.7 mm nozzle; they do not transfer one to one to finer beads
  • Pronounced anisotropy: across the layers only 50.3 MPa remain of 112.4 MPa
  • Carbon fibre is abrasive to nozzle and screw
  • Only limited chemical resistance, as is usual for polycarbonate
