PC+ABS (Bayblend FR3010)

Covestro · Bayblend FR3010

Bayblend FR3010 is a flame-retardant blend of polycarbonate and ABS. The blend combines the toughness and heat resistance of PC with the easier processing of ABS – a standard for housings in electrical engineering.

These values are taken from the manufacturer datasheet and apply to the material, not to the printed part. In 3D printing the achievable properties depend on part orientation, layer height and process parameters – in the Z direction in particular they are lower. Please talk to us before relying on them for design.

“Qualified for functional parts” is a general classification. A functional part can be a simple clip or a main load-bearing member – the forces and load cases differ fundamentally. We therefore always assess in each individual case whether a material is suitable for your part.

Strengths

  • Flame retardant – suitable for housings with fire-safety requirements
  • Considerably tougher and more impact resistant than plain ABS
  • Higher heat deflection temperature than ABS
  • Good dimensional stability and surface quality

Limitations

  • Susceptible to stress cracking in contact with certain solvents
  • Not UV resistant without additional protection
  • Hygroscopic – drying required before printing
