PA6-GF30 (heat stabilised)

LyondellBasell · Schulamid 6 GF30 H

A glass-fibre reinforced PA6 with additional heat stabilisation. The difference from standard GF30 does not show up in short-term strength but in ageing: the material retains its properties far longer at continuously elevated temperatures.

These values are taken from the manufacturer datasheet and apply to the material, not to the printed part. In 3D printing the achievable properties depend on part orientation, layer height and process parameters – in the Z direction in particular they are lower. Please talk to us before relying on them for design.

“Qualified for functional parts” is a general classification. A functional part can be a simple clip or a main load-bearing member – the forces and load cases differ fundamentally. We therefore always assess in each individual case whether a material is suitable for your part.

Strengths

  • Heat stabilised: the datasheet documents ageing at 150 °C over 3,000 hours
  • Stiffness and strength on a par with a classic PA6-GF30
  • Proven in under-bonnet applications
  • Economical for series parts
  • Burning rate of 30 mm/min to FMVSS 302 – meets the automotive requirement

Limitations

  • Brittle, like all reinforced polyamides
  • Hygroscopic, drying required
  • Warping tendency on large flat areas
  • Abrasive to the machine hardware
