PA6-CF30 (AM-Type)

Akro-Plastic · Akromid B3 ICF 30 AM

A carbon-fibre reinforced polyamide 6 that Akro-Plastic formulated specifically for additive manufacturing – hence the AM suffix. Compared with glass fibre, carbon fibre gives higher stiffness at lower weight and markedly less warping.

These values are taken from the manufacturer datasheet and apply to the material, not to the printed part. In 3D printing the achievable properties depend on part orientation, layer height and process parameters – in the Z direction in particular they are lower. Please talk to us before relying on them for design.

“Qualified for functional parts” is a general classification. A functional part can be a simple clip or a main load-bearing member – the forces and load cases differ fundamentally. We therefore always assess in each individual case whether a material is suitable for your part.

Strengths

  • Formulated by the manufacturer for 3D printing, not only for injection moulding
  • Carbon fibre reduces warping markedly compared with glass fibre
  • High stiffness at low density
  • Electrically dissipative thanks to the carbon fibre content
  • 30 percent recyclate content – a genuine sustainability argument against virgin material

Limitations

  • Carbon fibre is strongly abrasive – hardened nozzles required
  • Brittle, with low elongation at break
  • Hygroscopic like all polyamides
  • Available only in dark shades
