PA-CF (F3 Pro)

Fiberthree · F3 PA-CF Pro (5501)

A carbon-fibre reinforced polyamide filament from the German manufacturer Fiberthree, developed explicitly for industrial use. Fiberthree publishes properties measured on printed specimens – the exception rather than the rule in the filament market.

The manufacturer determined these values on printed specimens rather than injection-moulded ones, which makes them considerably more meaningful than typical datasheet figures. Note the orientations given: values in the layer plane (X, or XY and XZ) are considerably higher than those across the layers (Z, or ZX). Part orientation has to match the load direction – we are happy to advise.

“Qualified for functional parts” is a general classification. A functional part can be a simple clip or a main load-bearing member – the forces and load cases differ fundamentally. We therefore always assess in each individual case whether a material is suitable for your part.

Strengths

  • Developed for industrial 3D printing rather than adapted from injection moulding
  • High stiffness at low weight
  • Low warping thanks to carbon-fibre reinforcement
  • Fine detail achievable

Limitations

  • Carbon fibre is strongly abrasive – hardened nozzles required
  • Brittle, with low elongation at break
  • Hygroscopic, drying required before printing
  • More expensive than standard filaments
